But supposing God became a man - suppose our human nature which can suffer and die was amalgamated with God's nature in one person - then that person could help us. He could surrender His will, and suffer and die, because He was man; and He could do it perfectly because He was God. You and I can go through this process only if God does it in us; but God can only do it if He becomes man. Our attempts at this dying will succeed only if we men share in God's dying, just as our thinking can succeed only because it is a drop out of the ocean of His intelligence: but we cannot share God's dying unless God dies; and He cannot die except by being a man. That is the sense in which He pays our debt, and suffers for us what He Himself need not suffer at all. C.s. Lewis
About This Quote

This quote from A.C.N. Quain is a beautiful illustration of how selfless love can result in a deeper level of fulfillment and connection with God. The Give and Take of the Soul We live in a society that puts a great deal of emphasis on relationships. Many people think that life is about bonding with others, especially romantic partners. But God's plan from the beginning has been to put men and women together in intimate relationships with each other.

This is what people mean when they talk about marriage or calling someone a friend. In Genesis 2:18, we read that man was created in the image of God and woman was made to be a companion to him. This is what people mean when they say that men and women are equal in the eyes of God, or that they possess equal value in God's eyes. And this is what people mean when they insist that men and women should share in the same tasks, responsibilities, and rights as one another, regardless of gender.

However, this isn't what people mean when they're talking about romantic relationships either. The Bible has much to say about these things, but it also speaks directly to the issue of romantic relationships between men and women as well as the roles that men and women play within these relationships. This brings us to another important aspect of our relationship with God: how do we relate to each other? How do we act toward one another? What do we expect from one another? These are important questions because if we don't know how to act toward one another, then none of our other questions will be answered properly either. If we don't know what to expect from one another, then our expectations will often cause problems instead of solving them.

And if we don't know how to relate to each other properly, then neither will our relationships be fulfilling or pleasant for anyone involved anymore than if we didn't know how to act toward each other at all! God created us so that He could relate to us as His children who are fundamentally different than He is but still members of His family nonetheless (Eph 4:15). And so it's essential for us not only to understand ourselves but also one another so that we can come into right relationship with Him based on that understanding (Romans 12:1). When you think about it, this makes perfect sense! From God's perspective, He knows exactly who you are because He knows everything about you down to your very nature (Hebrews
